India Announces Tennis Squad to Visit Pakistan for Davis Cup

The All India Tennis Association (AITA) has unveiled the roster for its touring squad set to participate in the Group I Davis Cup tie against Pakistan at the Pakistan Sports Complex in Islamabad on February 3-4, 2024.

In response, President of the Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF), Salim Saifullah Khan, revealed the lineup for the Pakistan national squad that will face India.

 Khan expressed confidence in the team that recently secured victory against Indonesia, with international player Aisam ul Haq serving as the playing captain. 

The squad also includes Aqeel Khan, Mohammad Shoaib, Mohammad Abid, and Barkatullah, providing a formidable combination, especially for the grass courts where the tie will take place.

The Indian contingent boasts ITF-ranked players such as Ramkumar Ramanathan, Sriram Balaji, Yuki Bhambri, Saketh Myneni, Niki Poonacha, and Digvijay Pratap Singh. 

The team is accompanied by Captain Rohit Rajpal, Coach Zeeshan Ali, Coach Ashutosh Singh, and officials including Anand Kumar, Debashish Das, Dr. Anil Jain (President), and Vandana Jain.

 Additional names on the list include Anil Dhupar, Sunder Iyer, Sunil Yajaman, and other officials.

Aisam ul Haq, Pakistan’s captain, highlighted the prevailing peace in the country, crediting the efforts of the security forces.

 He emphasized the reciprocity of sports exchanges, mentioning that just as Pakistan sends teams to India, it is only fair for Indian teams to visit Pakistan.

 Aisam ul Haq also extended an invitation for India to participate in the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy hosted by Pakistan.
