“Qiddiya City to Lead Global Esports Development as World’s First Gaming and Esports District”
Qiddiya City is set to make history as the world’s inaugural comprehensive gaming and esports district, propelling Saudi Arabia into the forefront of the thriving esports industry.
Located at the heart of Qiddiya City, the newly announced district is poised to host major events and attract a staggering 10 million visitors annually with its four state-of-the-art esports venues.
The launch of this dedicated gaming and esports district aligns with the vision of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, who has been a strong supporter of the sector.
His backing is evident in the ‘National Strategy’ and various initiatives, including talent development programs and targeted investments, aimed at fostering the growth of esports in the region.
Believing in the rapid growth of the gaming and esports sector, Saudi Arabia aims to enhance its infrastructure and transform Qiddiya City into a global hub for gaming and esports.
The district, covering over 500,000 square meters, dedicates 100,000 square meters to retail, dining, and entertainment.
It is designed to cater not only to esports professionals but also to gaming enthusiasts of all levels and ages, offering gaming-themed apartments and hotels to create a unique live, work, and play experience.
Qiddiya City is set to accommodate up to 25 esports clubs from around the world and will serve as the regional headquarters for over 30 leading video game development companies.
The district will feature four cutting-edge arenas with a total capacity of 73,000 seats.
One of these arenas will boast the largest indoor LED screen among all esports venues globally, with a seating capacity of 5,300.
This strategic initiative, situated within Qiddiya City, aligns with Saudi Arabia’s National Strategy for Gaming and Esports, aiming to position the region as a global esports hub by the year 2030.
The development reflects the commitment to advancing the gaming and esports ecosystem on a global scale.
