The inauguration ceremony, attended by senior provincial officials, representatives of the livestock sector and veterinary experts, highlighted the government’s commitment to modernising animal health infrastructure. The newly constructed wing replaces older, cramped facilities and introduces state‑of‑the‑art equipment such as digital imaging units, microbiology labs and a sterile operating theatre capable of handling both large‑animal and small‑animal surgeries.

Sindh’s livestock sector accounts for roughly one‑third of Pakistan’s total animal‑derived production and employs millions of small‑holder farmers in rural districts. By establishing a central hub for rapid disease detection and treatment, the province hopes to curb recurring outbreaks of foot‑and‑mouth disease, avian influenza and other zoonoses that have periodically devastated herds and jeopardised export markets. The quarantine units are designed to isolate suspect cases promptly, enabling health officials to trace and contain infections before they spread to commercial farms.

Beyond immediate clinical services, the institute is slated to become a research and training nucleus. Partnerships with local universities and international veterinary bodies are being explored to develop vaccines, improve breeding practices and introduce precision‑livestock technologies. Provincial authorities anticipate that the enhanced capacity will not only raise animal welfare standards but also increase the profitability of Sindh’s dairy and meat producers, ultimately contributing to food security and rural livelihoods throughout Pakistan.
