LIVOLTEK, a global provider of smart energy solutions, and Muller & Phipps Pakistan (Pvt.) Ltd. (M&P) have inked a Memorandum of Understanding at M&P’s Karachi headquarters to advance the localization of battery manufacturing in the country. The agreement signals a concerted effort to bring advanced battery production closer to home, reducing dependence on imports and strengthening Pakistan’s supply chain for renewable energy technologies.
Founded in 2015, LIVOLTEK has built a reputation for designing and deploying integrated energy storage systems for utilities, commercial enterprises, and industrial clients worldwide. The company’s expertise spans lithium‑ion and solid‑state chemistries, and it has partnered with several governments to accelerate the adoption of clean energy. By joining forces with a local manufacturer, LIVOLTEK aims to transfer its know‑how and production techniques to Pakistani engineers and technicians.
Muller & Phipps Pakistan, a subsidiary of the UK‑based Muller & Phipps Group, has long been a key player in the country’s industrial sector, supplying high‑quality components for automotive, aerospace, and energy applications. With a robust manufacturing footprint in Karachi, M&P is well positioned to scale up battery production, leveraging its existing facilities and skilled workforce.
The MoU is expected to create a ripple effect across Pakistan’s green‑energy ecosystem. Local battery production will reduce lead times for electric vehicles, solar storage systems, and grid‑scale projects, while also generating employment opportunities in engineering, quality control, and logistics. Moreover, the partnership aligns with the government’s “Make in Pakistan” initiative, which seeks to boost domestic manufacturing and reduce import bills.
Both parties have outlined a phased roadmap that begins with technology transfer and pilot production, followed by full‑scale manufacturing and export readiness. If successful, the collaboration could position Karachi as a regional hub for battery technology, attracting further investment and fostering innovation in the broader South Asian market.
